Family Business vs. Business Family
I recently got back from Los Angeles - where I spent time with a client with a very successful family business - and I’ve been thinking about the distinction between a family business and a business family.
One of the reasons we love working with founder-led companies and family businesses is because they treat people, in the business, like family. And it can get a little crazy sometimes! All families have issues, but high-functioning business families know how to work through issues in a way that enhances alignment – to each other and the
business. That’s why, every time we get together on a call or in a meeting, we spend the time to work out the bugs, and reconnect and realign the team. And it’s always amazing to feel like part of their business family.
